We’re finally at the fourth and final week of the This Is Us Family Challenge. To end this special series aimed at strengthening our bonds as a family, this week’s challenge is all about having fun whether you’re musically inclined or not. The challenge? Make a family music video! It doesn’t matter what the music genre is…R & B, Rock ‘N Roll or Country..you can sing live or lip sync. Just pick a song and show us what you’ve got! Your video must be one minute in length and a winning video will be chosen and announced during service on June 17. The winning family will receive a $250 gift certificate and five movie tickets. All you have to do is share your videos on social media with the hashtag#ENCThisIsUs. We can’t wait to see your talent!!!

In Week 3 of our THIS IS US Challenge we would like you to cook a meal together! Everyone has to have a role in the cooking process but first you have to choose a leader! After you choose the leader, figure out what you would like to make together. There are some websites listed below to help you on your journey. The leader should then give everyone a role in the preparation. For example, someone is in charge of seasoning the meat, another in charge of roasting or boiling the vegetables, someone else could be in charge of preparing the salad or baking the bread. It should be a family affair! And, don’t forget to make the desert! What’s a meal without dessert?

Make sure that you take pics of your process and your finished product before you sit down to eat. We want to see what you accomplished together. Tag us at #ENCThisIsUs.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

In our fast-paced culture, family Bible study is something we  often don’t make enough time for. It’s an important practice that will not only strengthen your family bond but also your family’s relationship to God.

Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Pick a topic or passage that isn’t too challenging. Maybe start by learning about a specific Biblical character like Jesus, Mary or David.
  • If you have younger children, keep your Bible study relatively short to accommodate their shorter attention spans. You can also use coloring books, games and other fun tools for younger children.
  • Ask each family member tell what the Bible passage means to them and how it applies to their life.
  • Don’t forget to take a selfie while you do it, upload it to your social media, and add the hashtag #ENCThisIsUs. We will be be monitoring the hashtag and posting to ENC social media!

Playing games together is a fun way for families to interact, outside of the routine of homework, errands and chores. Whether it’s a game of Monopoly or spades around the dinner table, it’s all about strengthening family bonds and creating memories that can last a lifetime.

Choose a night that you can play a game with your family this week. Don’t forget to take a selfie while you do it, upload it to your social media, and add the hashtag #ENCThisIsUs. We will be be monitoring the hashtag and posting to ENC social media!
